![]() ![]() In Skyrim you level up by using your skills, so if you don't use your skills, there's no character progression. It's worth mentioning that Skyrim and New Vegas aren't designed around it. So, I was wondering, are successful pacifist runs rarer than I am led to believe and if not, what is a good game to break my failure steak? Even games I've already played and are worth revisiting. I also didn't make use of the game's disguise system. Similarly, despite diplomancing my way through Fallout: New Vegas, I found myself often attacked by enemies in the wasteland and I slaughtered them mercilessly instead of avoiding them or running away. In the end it was a fairly uneventful and musical playthrough (especially with the extra songs - you could also add more yourself), but nowhere the mystical number zero. I think I even cheated a bit because I lost my patience). Not only that, as my companion had her own lengthy quest-chain attached to her, I found myself fairly eager to complete it (minus the terrible fetching. I had a mod that allowed me to play at the inns and for the Jarls and it was pretty fun, but I still had to complete the initiation quest for the bard college and I found myself pulling my own wait alongside Vilja (a modded companion) instead of letting her do the killing. The closest I've gotten to a pacifist run was playing as a bard in Skyrim. I wonder if it's because pacifist runs are meant for a second playthrough, where you know the ins and outs of the game and what to avoid if you want to finish with a zero kill count. It felt fairly tedious and in a sense, I was kinda' lost. The few of those games I have played, I just couldn't seem commit to no killing. I would hear of people doing pacifist runs in games like Deus Ex or Obsidian's Fallout or how you can finish Planescape Torment while only killing 5 or 6 NPCs and I kind of idealized this type of gameplay.
